MASON CITY – The Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors met for their regular weekly meeting Tuesday morning.
A road report and Engineering Department update was given by County Engineer Mary Kelly. Highway B-20 construction repairs are fully underway, Kelly said. A maintenance pickup truck that was damaged a few weeks ago needs to be replaced, along with other pickup trucks the county uses.
The board accepted about $24,000 in back taxes with no penalties on several pieces of property from AT & T.
“This is the best thing for the county,” Treasurer Pat Wright stated. “They came to us, which is rare.”
In other actions, county taxes were abated for a mobile home that left the area.
The board also submitted a letter of support for the City of Mason City to host RAGBRAI next year when the world’s oldest bike tour makes its way through North Iowa. Sources indicated to NorthIowaToday.com that RAGBRAI has plans to make Mason City an overnight stop next year, and had the plans set prior to this letter being submitted and a letter from the City Council submitted last week.
“It’s all so they can take credit for RAGBRAI coming here,” the source said.
