MASON CITY – A Rockford man was pulled over and the deputy discovered meth, leading to his arrest for a second time this year for illegal drug possession.
After 2 AM on December 3, a Cerro Gordo deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle due to an equipment malfunction at the intersection of 9th NW and Van Buren Avenue in Mason City. After an investigation, the deputy discovered that the driver, 20-year-old Calvin John Adams of Rockford, was driving with a suspended license. Further investigation led to the alleged discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Adams was arrested and taken to the Cerro Gordo county jail, where he was booked and released pending a court date.
Just weeks ago, Adams was given a lenient sentence in a drug crime. He had been charged by Charles City police back in April for possession of marijuana. He later pled guilty and in October of this year was given a deferred judgement and placed on a year of “self probation” according to court records.
