WASHINGTON, D.C. – The man who tried to assassinate President Ronald Reagan is set to be released from a psych ward, and Americans don’t agree with the decision.

A federal judge last week ordered that John W. Hinckley Jr. who shot President Ronald Reagan and three others in 1981 be released from a government psychiatric hospital and allowed to live with his elderly mother in Virginia.

Rasmussen conducted a survey and asked 1,000 likely voters on July 28 and 31, 2016, what they thought.  Those polled were given the statement “John Hinckley Jr. severely wounded President Ronald Reagan in a 1981 assassination attempt, also wounding two Secret Service officers and critically injuring Reagan’s press secretary James Brady. Hinckley was found not guilty on grounds of insanity and has been confined in a mental institution ever since. Do you agree or disagree with a federal judge’s decision to release Hinckley to live permanently with his elderly mother?”

According to the Rasmussen poll, most Americans don’t approve of the judge’s decision.

The Washington Times said “Outrage over Hinckley’s acquittal in the 1981 shooting reshaped the insanity defense in courts across the country.”

What do you think?  Should Hinckley be freed?

At least we know he was the shooter –JFk ? Take your pick – Oswald the patsy and if you have watched the shows and investigation on this you know who was really to blame.

He’ll cause trouble again. Keep him in. Who are these laws for. Not to protect the people that’s for sure.

Given what he did to James Brady and others. No. Attempting to kill a President should be consequenced with life in prison. If not, where is the deterrent? And besides, this guy didn’t do it for legitimate political reasons…he did it because he was whacked out in the head. So you might say that should excuse him more than a political would-be assassin. But I say NO. It just means he’s deranged and not fit to be in society. At least with a political assassin, there are values and morals as reasons for why they attempted what they did. Randomly attempting the life of the President while throbbing over Jodi Foster in a bizarre manner means you go away for good. That’s my opinion on it anyway.

You’re whacked out in the head.

Wait till he’s released and sees the options for president this time. Dude, you’re better off institutionalized.
