CHARLES CITY – An alleged drunk driver plowed over a stop sign and landed in a yard, leading to his arrest.

The incident took place on July 1 at about 11:40 PM. Officers with the Charles City police department located a 2002 Ford F-150 which they say had driven over a stop sign. The pickup stopped in a yard in the 300 block of 4th Avenue. Officers investigated and as a result, the driver, 58-year-old Cameron North of Charles City, was arrested for first-offense operating while intoxicated.

North was taken to jail and soon released. A preliminary hearing has been waived, and he now awaits a court date.
