Nashua woman dies in Colorado rafting accident

FREMONT COUNTY, COLORADO – A Nashua, Iowa woman died after falling out of a raft this weekend on a river in Colorado.

Debra Lynn Brymer, age 60 of Nashua, Iowa died Sunday May 22, 2016, during a rafting excursion on the Arkansas River near Canon City, Colorado.

The Denver Post reported that Brymer “was rafting with her husband and grandson on the Arkansas River west of Canon City when she fell from the raft. Echo Canyon River Expeditions staff members were able to pull her back in, but Brymer was not breathing.

“CPR was not successful, and Brymer was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Funeral services are pending with Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home – Olson Chapel in Nashua.

Arkansas River rafting companies provided trips to 196,998 persons last year, the fourth straight year of increased ridership on the state’s most rafted river, according to recently released Colorado River Outfitters Association statistics for the 2015 season.
