NIACC’s Walter shoots 91 at national golf tournament

niacc_trojans_logoDAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NIACC sophomore Bailey Walter shot a 91 on day two Tuesday at the NJCAA national golf tournament at the LPGA International Golf Course.

Walter has a two-day total of 195 after shooting an opening round of 104.
“Bailey Walter played an outstanding front 9, shooting a 40, but got off to a tough start on the back nine and finished with a 91,” NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. “Still that was 13 strokes better than yesterday and it helps her realize that she has what it takes to play well on this course but maintaining it for 18 holes is really difficult.”

NIACC’s Savannah Lentz and Carlie Eckenrod both shot 94s on Tuesday.

Lentz has a two-day total of 188 after an opening day 94 and Eckenrod has a two-day total of 204 after an opening round of 110.

“Carlie show some real determination out there (Tuesday),” Frenz said.

“She was determined to not let this course get the best of her and for the most part she did an outstanding job of that.”

Lentz backed up her opening round of 94 with another 94 on Tuesday.

“Savannah just couldn’t get the putter working (Tuesday),” Frenz said.

“She had a chance to be even or one under after the first couple of holes, but the putter let her down and she just really couldn’t get it going after that.”
