CEDAR RAPIDS – A Chicago man who authorities say brought a gun into an Iowa home invasion involving victims and a minor child has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison after again being caught illegally possessing a firearm.

Davion Lashaun Trawick, 26, of Chicago, Illinois, received the prison term after pleading guilty on December 8, 2025, to possession of a firearm as a felon.

Federal prosecutors said Dubuque police responded to a 911 call on August 9, 2025. Officers attempted to enter the home, but concerns about firearms and possible hostages led police to remain outside.

Victims later reported that Trawick, co-defendant Donta Euells and another man forced their way into the home. Prosecutors said Trawick pointed a firearm at victims inside the residence, including a minor child.

Trawick had previously been prosecuted in the Northern District of Iowa for illegally possessing a firearm. In 2019, he was convicted of illegally possessing a firearm as a drug user.

Chief United States District Court Judge C.J. Williams sentenced Trawick in Cedar Rapids to 144 months in federal prison. Trawick must also serve three years of supervised release after completing the prison term.

There is no parole in the federal system.

Trawick (pictured at top) remains in United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nicole L. Nagin. It was investigated by the Dubuque Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
