DECORAH, IOWA – A man convicted of a sex offense who is supposed to be living in Worth county was arrested in Decorah.
Harley Deruyter, age 31, was arrested on the evening of March 21 on a Worth county warrant for Sex Offender Registration Violation and was transported to the Winneshiek County Jail in Decorah. This is a felony offense due to second or subsequent violation. Deruyter was then transferred to the Worth county jail in Northwood where he is being held at this time.
Deruyter was convicted in 2005 in Scott county, Iowa, of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse. He was sent to prison and ordered to pay $954.26 in court costs, which records show he has failed to make a single payment toward. He is supposed to be living in Kensett, Iowa.
