STORM LAKE, IOWA – The NIACC men’s track and field team placed third at the NJCAA Region XI meet with 44 points on Saturday.
The Trojans were led by sophomore Imad Amenzou, who won the 1,000-meter run in a time of 2 minutes, 34.73 seconds. Amenzou also ran a leg on the Trojans’ 4×800-meter relay team that placed second in 7:58.98.
Other members of the 4×800 team were John Enright, Mark Maddox and Jose Aguilera.
The Trojans also won the distance medley relay in 10:44.66. Team members were Zach Freund, Rayvon Gray, Maddox and Jacob Day.
Also for the Trojans, John Enright placed third in the 600 (1:24.58) and the 4×400 team of Maddox, Enright, Gray and Dennis Elms Jansson was third (3:33.25), Day was fifth in the 5,000 (15:33.84).
Iowa Central won the men’s regional meet with 309.33 points.
The NIACC women placed fourth in the regional meet with 44 points. Iowa Central was the women’s team champion with 190.66 points.
The Lady Trojans won the distance medley relay in a time of 14:23.64 running Jordan Lane, Annemarie Morris, Michaela Foster and Kendra Schmidt.
Also for the NIACC women, the 4×800 team of Lane, Schmidt, Foster and Taylor Glawe was third in 11:12.42, Schmidt was fourth in the 1,000 (3:36.32) and Lane was fifth in the 1,000 (3:40.10).
