NORA SPRINGS – Scantily clad ladies enticed the citizenry of North Iowa Friday night in Nora Springs as the Pole Barn – minus a pole – opened for business.

The thump of dance music could be heard walking up to Nora Springs’ newest business late Friday night. Several cars were parked out front, along with a few cars with Minnesota plates, one with a moving van attached.

The scene was set Friday night at the main corner in downtown Nora Springs, just a stone’s thrown from city hall, where the night before, the town’s zoning board quickly passed language thwarting adult businesses.

The Pole Barn’s owner – Dale Peterson of Clarkfield, Minnesota – evidently got wind of the town’s move, and accelerated the opening of his juice bar. He had earlier revealed he would open a week from Friday. But as the zoning board approved the anti-adult business changes to city code, Mr. Peterson took action to open up before the town council code approve the recommendations from the board.

Mr. Peterson’s bouncer, Joel, told NIT that he worked all day to open up Friday night.

“The place needed a lot of attention,” Joel told NIT.  “I was in here early, sweeping, cleaning, prepping to open tonight.  I think it looks pretty decent.”

The Pole Barn did not have, however, an actual dance pole for the performers to use.  There was a large, long bar that seems to have been converted into a dance/walkway.  Joel plans to have a pole installed for Saturday night.

The Pole Barn featured two dancers Friday night.  While NIT was inside the establishment, both remained clothed for the most part.  There was some provocative dancing taking place, and one young man received a “lap dance” in a slightly more secluded area of the bar.  There were about 6 patrons inside, mostly younger people, with one older gentleman there as well.  Soon, a few more younger people arrived. Some brought some beer or wine coolers with them.

Mr. Peterson granted NIT an interview, and said he hopes to have even more dancers working Saturday night. He says he wants to hire local ladies to work at the Pole Barn. He also says he hopes to stay open despite actions taken by city hall to impede adult businesses.

Cost to enter the Pole Barn is $10 per person.  It will open at 7 PM Saturday night.

Kevin, Your Very culpable in what happened here in Nora Springs. Don’t deny this fact. You can act innocent but don’t EVEN try to bullsh1t the community. It would also help if you just stopped being a doushbag, but that is something you have proven time and time again you can’t. You know, like having a cool DJ at your bar to pull in RAGBRI bikers and then not paying the DJ? Remember that you asshat? Funny thing is, you had no idea everyone in Nora boycotted your bar after that. Did you wonder why you had to close??? Your a scumbag Kevin, everyone knows it.

I see Wedeking hasn’t paid his property taxes on that building either! What a loser…

the owner of the building is a teacher for Charles City High School. Kevin Wedeking. What a disgrace to the profession…

Duh……. perhaps he sold it on contract.

Go Juice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow!!! The owner is a sex offender?

To everyone that thinks I should movie I should not have to do any of that I am with in my rights to fight against a sex offender no matter if I am next door or right above this place I have been here after the bar was closed and when this man came to look at the place I should have been told what it was going to be way before it opens so that I could have found a place but no I wasn’t when I did ask what it was going to be after I found out that it was being least I kept getting a run around then when I did final asked Dale if the place was going to be a juice bar he said yes and I was upset and then after I had did the inter view for KIMT is when I learned that he was a sex offender and that he had chargers for prostitution so ya I am throwing a big fit about this because my kids do not need to be around this and let alone my health stress and lack of sleep will send me into a seizur
