More than $360,000 in CAT Grants Awarded to Story City, Ankeny

DES MOINES – The Vision Iowa Board awarded $366,917 in Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grants to an aquatic center in Story City and a park project in Ankeny. The grants were approved by the Vision Iowa Board at today’s meeting in Des Moines.

The following projects were approved for grants awarded from the CAT Fund:

Story City Swimming Pool, Story City
Total Project Cost: $2,572,876
Amount Requested: $86,530
Amount Awarded: $86,530
Project Description: This project includes the construction of swimming pool with two water slides, two diving boards, a spray zone area for toddlers, lap swimming, lounge areas, a new bathhouse and concession stand.

Ankeny Market Pavilion, Ankeny
Total Project Cost: $1,709,535
Amount Requested: $280,387
Amount Awarded: $280,387
Award Contingencies: Completed fundraising within 30 days
Project Description: This project includes the construction of two 50’ x 100’ open-air pavilions, a paved plaza, a restroom facility and a trail hub. Additional features include signage and a natural play space.

The Vision Iowa Program provides financial incentives to communities for the construction of recreational, cultural, educational or entertainment facilities that enhance the quality of life in Iowa. Currently, 402 CAT awards have been granted by the board, totaling $151,725,006. The next Vision Iowa Board meeting is tentatively scheduled for June 10, 2015, in Iowa City.
