SIOUX CITY – Governor Terry Branstad today announced a new pork processing plant coming to Sioux City that will employ over 1,000 people.

“Over 1,000 jobs coming to Sioux City with a new $264 million investment,” Governor Branstad said this afternoon.

Triumph Foods, which recently acquired a large she of Seaboard Foods, will be building the $264 million facility.

“We are happy and excited to announce that Triumph Foods and Seaboard Foods announced this morning the formation of a joint venture, with equal ownership, to construct a new pork processing facility in Sioux City, Iowa, with site work expected to begin this summer and construction completed by July 2017,” Triumph said in a statement.

“The plant is expected to process about 3 million market hogs annually operating a single shift and employ approximately 1,100 persons, including approximately 200 salaried positions and 900 hourly production positions. The plant will be built on property in the Bridgeport West Industrial Park in Sioux City, located north of the Sioux Gateway Airport along the Missouri River.”
