Charles City man’s fraud trial delayed until March

CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man accused of felony forgery charges has had his jury trial delayed until March.

Officers with the Charles City Police Department arrested 33-year-old Matthew L. Kirsch on the morning of September 27, 2014. He faces a charge of felony B ongoing criminal conduct and 11 felony D forgery charges. The charges stem from an alleged plan he hatched with an accomplice to withdraw money from ATM machines using credit cards he obtained.

On October 20, Kirsch pled not guilty and a jury trial was set for December 2. However, his public defender on November 17 waived his right to a speedy trial, and a new jury trial date was set for January 27. His trial has now been postponed again until March 10, with a pre-trail conference set for February 23.
