MASON CITY – An Algona man who is spending considerable time in Mason City in recent weeks and who was out of jail on bond in a felony domestic assault involving strangulation charge has been arrested here again, this time for theft and public intoxication.
Michael Mireles, age 23, was arrested by Mason City police on the evening of November 23 on charges of fourth degree theft and public intoxication. He was soon released from jail. He awaits a December 12 hearing on the theft charge and a May 8, 2015 trial on the public intoxication charge, to which he pled not guilty.
Wireless had been arrested earlier this month, after Mason City police were called to 314 North Georgia Avenue on Sunday, November 9 for an emergency call about a physical domestic altercation. Police determined Mireles was the aggressor in the incident. Mireles was arrested and charged with felony domestic abuse assault involving strangulation and first offense domestic abuse assault causing injury. He bonded out of jail on Novemeber 12. He now awaits a January 27 jury trial in that case and has pleaded not guilty.
On Monday, November 10, Mireles pled guilty to burglary of a motor vehicle, among other charges brought by Algona police last December. He received 2 years of probation and suspended fines and prison sentence.
