Men stopped by deputy while walking on Interstate plead guilty to drug crimes

MASON CITY – Two men who were stopped while walking along Interstate 35 earlier this month have both pleaded guilty to drug crimes.

A Cerro Gordo deputy was dispatched on the morning of October 8 to the area of mile marker 190 on Interstate 35 to check on two subjects walking on the shoulder of the roadway. The deputy made contact with the two individuals and after an investigation, discovered that 21-year-old Taylor John Wonsmos of Lake Mills was in possession of drug paraphernalia. His companion, 24-year-old Andrew James Osborne of Overland, Kansas, was in possession of illegal prescription drugs.

Both men were arrested, taken to jail, and held on cash bond before being released and later taking plea deals.

Osborne pled guilty to possession or control of mislabeled articles and was sentenced to 21 days in jail and ordered to pay $313.75 in fines and court fees.

Wonsmos pled guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and ordered to pay $330.00 in fines and court fees.
