SHAKOPEE, MN – A man suspected of murdering a former Mason City resident has been arrested in a Twin Cities suburb after an extensive manhunt that went on for weeks.
Police in Shakopee, MN said Thursday that Lyle “Ty” Hoffman was arrested as he peered at an Arby’s drive-thru menu while on foot. He was unarmed and did not resist arrest.
Hoffman has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Kelly Phillips, whom he shot three times. Phillips was formerly of Mason City and still has family in town. Hoffman is also suspected of robbing a Twin Cities area bank as he alluded capture.
