MASON CITY – Police arrested a pair of women at a Mason City hotel Thursday evening as a result of a prostitution investigation.
Investigators with the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force (NCINTF), while conducting a drug investigation, became aware of a prostitution ring working in the area.
According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were at the Days Inn Hotel, 2301 4th Street SW, Thursday at about 10:34 PM. During an investigation, Elizabeth Jean Seals, age 22 of Mason City, was arrested for prostitution and Vanessa Fandohan, age 29, also of Mason City, was arrested for aid and abetting prostitution.
Sheriff Kevin Pals said in a news release that the “activity has been going on in the area for some time”. The case is still under investigation. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Iowa State Patrol and Mason City Police Department assisted in the investigation.
Both women are being held in jail on $2,000 cash or surety bond. The prostitution and aiding and abetting prostitution charges are both aggravated misdemeanors punishable by up to 2 years in jail and a fine not to exceed $6,250.
