HANCOCK COUNTY – After a shooting another male and causing serious injury, a Britt man is behind bars, charged with felony attempted murder.
According to Hancock County Sheriff Robert Gerdes Jr., on June 21, 2024, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office arrested Alexander Mitchell Padilla, age 36, from Britt, Iowa. Padilla was charged with Attempted Murder, a Class B felony, in the violation of Iowa Code section 707.11 and Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, a Class C Felony, in violation of Iowa Code section 708.4(1).
Padilla was arrested for his role in the shooting of a male subject in the 1100 block of 270th Street outside of Britt, Iowa in Hancock County.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Iowa State Patrol, police departments from Britt, Kanawha, Garner, and Clear Lake, Sheriff’s Offices from Wright County, Winnebago County, and Kossuth County, and the West Hancock Ambulance Service. This is an ongoing investigation. No additional information will be released at this time.
