DES MOINES – State officials in Iowa released the following information on the coronavirus emergency today, March 26, 2020:
- There were 21 additional positive cases of Iowans with COVID-19 reported on Wednesday, bringing the total to 145 positive cases.
- 41,890 Iowans applied for unemployment last week, up from 2,489 the week before, and represents the highest level of claims ever recorded in the state. To file an unemployment claim, visit https://www.iowaworkforcedevelopment.gov/file-claim-unemployment-insurance-benefits.
- A Presidential Disaster Declaration was approved for Iowa, which allows more federal emergency funds to flow to Iowa and opens up the Community Disaster Loan program.
- The U.S. Senate came to agreement on another COVID-19 relief package that was approved late Wednesday and expected to be approved by the House soon.
