Investigation concluded in accident that left auto mechanic dead

BUCHANAN COUNTY – The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office has concluded an investigation into an incident which left a Quasqueton, Iowa man dead.

On Saturday, May 31, 2014 at approximately 1:15 am, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 report of a male trapped underneath a vehicle at a residence in the 700 block East Linn Street in Quasqueton. The investigation has determined that Brandon John Smith, 25, of Quasqueton, was working in a garage underneath a stock car type vehicle when the vehicle came off the jack stand and came down onto Smith. Smith was removed from underneath the vehicle and CPR was administered, but Smith died from the incident.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Quasqueton Fire Department, Area Ambulance Service and Covenant AirCare.
