Nora Springs motorcyclist dead after apparent rear-end accident

logo-iowa-state-patrolNORA SPRINGS – A motorcyclist was apparently rear-ended by a woman driving an SUV Wednesday, killing the driver of the motorcycle.

The Iowa State Patrol reported that David Crowe, age 66 of Nora Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident which took place on Highway 18 between Rudd and Nora Springs Wednesday at about 3:30 PM.

Stephanie Mercer, age 23 of Charles City, was eastbound on Highway 18, driving a 2003 GMC Envoy when Crowe’s 1992 Harley-Davidson motorcycle slowed to make a right turn on Dancer Avenue. Crowe was struck by Mercer’s vehicle, throwing him from his motorcycle. Mercer was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Nora Springs Fire and Mason City Fire and Ambulance assisted at the accident scene.

Ooops, just a simple mistake, no charges. Well, at least they didn’t possess any pot, then it would have been seizures, drug treatment, fines and jail.
