WRIGHT COUNTY – A young Northern Iowa woman died when the ATV she was a passenger in rolled into a river.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on September 6, 2025. At 3:11 AM that morning, a John Deere Gater ATV was traveling near the Boone River, near Highway 3 in Wright county, when the driver, 21-year-old Levi Edward Rasmussen of Goldfield, Iowa, misjudged how close the vehicle was to a significant drop off of the river bank. The Gator apparently went over the drop off and rolled into the river. Rasmussen was thrown from th vehicle, as was his passenger, 20-year-old McKenna Mae Woodbeck of Huxley, Iowa. She became trapped underneath the vehicle and was fatally injured, the Patrol says, and died at the scene. Rasmussen was taken to a hospital by Eagle Grove Ambulance.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Wright county sheriff, Eagle Grove police, Eagle Grove ambulance and the Goldfield fire department.
