DES MOINES – A Clear Lake chiropractor has been disciplined by a state board after allegations of inappropriate touching of children .
The Iowa Board of Chiropractic says that Nicholas McColley, D.C., is a chiropractor practicing in Clear Lake, Iowa. The Board received a complaint that McColley, on multiple different occasions, touched the genital area of a child male patient during an appointment from on or about July 2016 through February 2018. Further, it was alleged that there are multiple victims with similar allegations.
As a result of the allegations in January of 2020, the board ordered that McColley “shall not treat or provide services to any patients unless directly supervised by another person within his office” as an investigation was conducted by the board and also, the Mason City police department, as “the local police conflicted themselves out of the matter”.
In a settlement, McColley was placed on probation by the board for three years under certain conditions, including continuing education, must provide any services in the presence of a monitor. McColley also was ordered to pay $300 to the board every quarter included with a report attesting to his compliance to the board’s order.
Mason City police did not immediately respond to questions about the outcome of any investigation they may have undertaken in this matter.
