Steve King lashes out at NY Senator who “insulted” him

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steve King released the following statement in response to Democrat New York Senator Chuck Schumer’s speech on the Senate floor Thursday night attacking King on immigration:

“I’m flattered by Schumer’s attempt to insult me, yet give me 100% of the credit for blocking his amnesty bill and agenda,” said King. “But his speech was really an attempt to goad Speaker Boehner into moving amnesty on the floor of the House. Schumer knows, and must think Republicans do not, that moving amnesty would destroy Republican unity and our opportunity to gain the majority in the Senate this Fall. Schumer knows that, if John Boehner takes his bait and succeeds in passing any form of amnesty, we will not see the Rule of Law restored within the lifetime of this Republic. I repeat, we have to man the watchtowers 24/7.”

I’m not promoting amnesty but it’s telling that Rep King states that he want’s the rule of law but doesn’t want to have a law voted on which, according to him, would pass.

All to save his political ideology.

That sort of partisan behavior is a big part of the problem in our government.

Vote King out and Jim Mowrer in!

@Mediator-I wouldn’t vote for either one of them. I am fed up with the Democrats (thanks to Obama) and the Republicans. we need someone new and honest and I don’t see it in either party.

I’d like you to meet Jim, LVS. He’s a fresh face.

I have said that I vote the person not the party but the last 30 years or so it has been republican. That being said what do you think of Bob Quast?

I’d love to meet him. I’m registered in a different party, so I haven’t really been looking at the other Senate candidates yet.

I agree that it’s more about the man than the party, especially at the more local levels.

I like open minded people who don’t care about laying blame but do care about making things better. I sometimes disagree on what will make things better, but I think most people will agree that working for solutions is a better outcome than working towards blame.

Like I said I have voted republican only because I like what they used to believe in. This man Bob Quast is a democrat but after seeing a few of his videos I am willing to check him out because I like what he had to say.

@mediator-I would certainly like to know more before making a decision.

I’ll let you know the next time he’s coming up this way and make sure you get invited.

Jim’s a vet who also worked at the Pentagon. He’s walked the walk and seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

What a pathetic way to represent the great State of Iowa. Unfortunately he has just enough support in various parts of this district to probably get reelected.

Correction – there fortunately is enough support in this district that he will get reelected.

“Schumer knows, and must think Republicans do not, that moving amnesty would destroy Republican unity”

Really, and why’s that?
