CLIVE – A juvenile pointed a “gun” at another kid at an Iowa school, but cops were quick to track down and nab a suspect.

On the afternoon of November 3, police dispatch in Clive, Iowa, received a report of an armed person outside of the Crestview School of Inquiry, 8355 Franklin Avenue, Clive. The individual was identified as a juvenile, armed with a handgun. Clive Police responded to the school and were able to quickly identify and locate the suspect at a nearby residence. A toy handgun (pictured, via police) was also recovered at that time.

Through the course of the investigation, officers learned that the gun was pointed at another juvenile near the school, after classes had already been dismissed for the day. Threats were also made against a second victim, who was no longer present. The juvenile then left the grounds after being told the police were called.

“While this incident only involved a toy, you can see from this photo, that the resemblance to a real firearm is uncanny, and under the wrong circumstances could have had a devastating effect to those involved, their families and the community as a whole”, said Lieutenant Mark Rehberg.

As a result of this investigation, the juvenile was taken into custody and charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, a Class D Felony, then transported to a juvenile detention facility in Polk county. Due to the age of the suspect, their identity was not released.
