Des Moines police seek man who went on hour-and-a-half crime spree

DES MOINES – The Des Moines Police Department is asking for help from the public identifying a suspect that is believed to be involved in a robbery and burglary on the same day.

On March 1st between 1:22 and 2:54 pm a white male suspect wearing a camouflage jacket and driving what appears to be an older model Dodge Dakota with a tool box in the back, attempted to pry into an ATM at the Greater Iowa Credit Union at 600 E. 30th then successfully broke into the coin boxes at the Four Mile Car Wash at 3740 Easton in Des Moines. During this time frame the suspect also robbed the Star Gas Station at 3761 E. University displaying a knife and demanding money but fled when the employee confronted him with a metallic bat.

Anyone who has information on the identity or location of this suspect, or his vehicle, is asked to call the Des Moines Police Detective Bureau at 515-283-4864 or The Polk County Crime Stoppers anonymously at 515-223-1400.
