Northern Iowa man seriously hurt in motorcycle crash

RURAL BUCHANAN COUNTY - A Northern Iowa man was seriously hurt when he lost control of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and crashed into a cattle gate.

RURAL BUCHANAN COUNTY – A Northern Iowa man was seriously hurt when he lost control of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and crashed into a cattle gate.

On Monday, August 28, 2023 at approximately 3:30 pm, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the 1200 blk Fairbank Amish Blvd. According to the investigation, a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Zachary Reese of Fairbank was traveling southbound on Fairbank Amish Blvd when Reese lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle entered the east ditch and struck a cattle gate before coming to rest. Reese sustained serious injuries in the accident and was airlifted from the scene to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Police say this incident remains under investigation.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Fairbank Fire Department, Fairbank Ambulance and AirMed Air Ambulance.
