I thought Iowa was a place to grow?

@Philly-they are old enough to know the difference between right and wrong and so are you. They thought they would never get caught and were so stupid they did. I don’t feel the least bit sorry for the two criminal dopers.

Think of all the fun your law enforcement friends will have coming up with new ways to prosecute people when marihuana becomes legal. The state will profit twice and possibly three times. I’d rather see the state bringing in money for roads, schools, wind farms, than the cartels and drug dealers… Wouldn’t you? BILLIONS are at stake.

@Philly-not going to happen in Iowa any time soon and I am hearing there is a big movement to outlaw it again in Colorado. To many crooks coming in.

Since when do laws politicians make have anything to do with right and wrong?

Since when do you have any idea what right and wrong is?

So look how the State is ready to destroy a Marriage. These two are going to be sent to separate facilities, and perhaps for a very long time…all to protect the State’s AUTHORITY over humans and their choices. Very sad.

It’s OK that the last three presidents have admitted getting high on Cheeba, however this couple needs to go to prison, have their home and vehicles forfeited and given to the police and if they have children they need to be orphaned,

And you are next.

One day them fellers from government can by and spied it and turned white as a sheet!

And he dug and he burned
And he burned and he dug
And he killed all our cute little weeds
Then he drove away

We just smiled and waved

…….Sittin’ thar on that sack of seeds
Y’all come back now, ya hear

Now that is funny, God is going to smite them for growing plants that the government has deemed illegal. Hey you 2, ILLEGAL; got it? It doesn’t matter what you think, right now the government doesn’t agree with you.

Look at it from the bigger picture. This is God’s earth correct? He created it. So if some organisms are trying to destroy and eradicate other organisms to a degree that doesn’t fit within the natural food cycle process, I would think God wouldn’t be too happy about that. To me that makes more sense than believing you can run around this planet doing whatever you want to whomever you want, and then be saved at the end of it all by JESUS.

What about the tree of knowledge? Doesn’t matter what it is, even if God made it. If the government says it is illegal then it is. Render unto ceasar that which is ceasar and God that which is God’s.

There’s no way you’re that much of a Gump. If the government outlawed handguns, you’d be up in arms over it. I know LVS would, and 2/3 of the others who frequent this site. So, do you want to start backpedaling out of the narrow corridor you started steering yourself into or should I just slap you with the Hypocrisy Paddle right away?

Now you are splitting hairs. The right to bear arms is a God given right in this country so if they outlaw guns then yes I would be up in arms, drugs are NOT a God given right in this country.

The right to use the plants of the world is a GOD given right.

11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.”

@Philly-Growing ILLEGAL drugs (Pot) and having ILLEGAL Meth in your possession is not even in the same game as carrying a LEGAL firearm and you know it. I really expected better than that out of you Philly. We all know SUCKS is operating with a fried brain and is to stupid to communicate but you are a little bit more intelligent than him. Get real and wake up. You are wasting our time.

God also made the tree of knowledge then told adam and eve to stay away from it.

” the right to use the plants of the world is a GOD given right”. So by your thinking any plant that is growing or natural should be able to be used how you want it with out any government interference right? So pot grows naturally so does opiate poppy flowers which are turned into heroin, lsd which is made from a mold growing on rye bread, hasheesh is made from cannabis plants, mushrooms that take you on a wild trip should also be legal.

So Philly by your statement i see it as heroin, lsd, hasheesh, mushrooms, and others should all be legal, right? Society could only get better with these plant based drugs legalized right? Or are you only for the legalization of pot because its your drug of choice….right?

He wants to legalize all drugs, he says he doesn’t use drugs but he sure is fighting for them.

The key to understanding my philosophy is LIABILITY and GOLDEN RULE. Provided no other laws are being broken, you are free to use whatever you’d like in my universe. I am willing to concede to a MULTIPLIER stipulation that would accelerate punishments if you are found to be under the influence of any substances including alcohol and prescriptions in the commission of any other crime. That’s a good protection for society. If you rob a bank, you’re going to prison, but if you rob a bank high on cocaine, your’re going to prison even longer. I’m willing to accept that. But the drugs or substances in and of themselves are not considered illegal. One cannot provide these to minors, nor force them upon anyone or drug someone without their consent and knowledge…just to clarify that additional point.

So Philly by your reasoning its ok to sit around all day and stick a syringe full of heroin into your arm as long as you don’t rob a bank after you have been using right? Its ok to snort coke and watch the game right? or drop some “shrooms” or lsd and make dinner for the family right?

Robbing a bank, committing a crime has nothing to do with using drugs right? By your reasoning the world will be a utopia with a bunch of heroin users running business, serving you food, or doing your taxes right? It’s all ok because they are Gods plants right?

Our world will be a better place if we all chill out and stick a needle in our arm, fire up the bong, or snort a little coke, as long as we don’t rob a gas station…..right?

No, your examples are ludicrous and exorbitant. No one is suggesting or encouraging people to do any of the highly stereotypical examples you have given. What I am saying is that if a person does want to use a substance, it’s none of the government’s business, provided their use doesn’t cause them to commit and acts of criminality against their fellow man, or the environment we live in. If you can use Heroin, and not commit criminal acts…what business is it of anyone else? Society has plenty of opportunities to draft and expand upon laws that stipulate where and when use of such substances is acceptable, but

I contend Society DOES NOT have rights to prohibit the substance outright. There are so many countless examples of legal substances that are dangerous if a person chose to use them in a malicious or ignorant manner, and drugs should be no different. I’ll use an easy one: Rat or insect poison. Here’s a substance anyone can go to Menard’s and purchase and is completely legal to do so. The only time the Rat Poison would ever enter into a prosecutorial conversation is if a human ever USED THE POISON AGAINST SOMEONE. Then the actionable offense would not be waged against the distributor of the poison (Menard’s), nor would it be waged against the maker of the poison (D-Con), nor against the traffiker of the poison (The Freight Trucks)…but rather against the perpetrator who used the rat poison in such a way as to cause harm to someone or the environment. I cite the environment because if the person poured large amounts of D-CON Rat Poison into a pond or stream and it killed fish, amphibians, or other wildlife, they should be held criminally liable for that action.

It may take you awhile to get used to this type of thinking, but in the long run, it is a more holistic, comprehensive, and judicious approach to defining criminality. LIABILITY AND HARM are the key words.

Yes, God created earth and all things. From the hypnotic smell of pectin off the apples on the ground in Autumn, to Hemlock. From Nuthatches to Alligators. From late summer sun ripened San Marzano tomatoes, to Bacillus Anthracis (Anthrax).

While he made all those things, as humans, we learned in time what to enjoy, and what would harm us just as the toddler learned ‘hot’ when playing with the kitchen stove.

There are those in society (in growing numbers it appears) that lack the common sense to learn ‘hot’, even as adults. I pity them, but cannot excuse them. We were taught the lessons of basic care for ourselves. Yet too many ignore these common sense lessons, and society was required to protect them from harm, by enacting rules…..Thou shalt not.

If you still ignore the rules, I will still pity you, however expect amends to be made to society as is right and proper.

That was perfect, I couldn’t add anything to that. Observer, do you mind if I copy that and from time to time when iowa sucks or peter get too much out of hand on this subject insert it, it was poetry.

Herein speaketh Observer, the swashbuckler for the “rules”, finally coming to grips with the inevitable paradigm shift favoring decriminalization and legalization of marijuana. I’m not one to rub in a person’s past views Observer, if you’ll have noticed. For the most part, I sense your level of respect for me when you write, and that’s commendable.

There are disputes that cannabis is a substance that deserves the labeling of “hot”, borrowing from your example, some go further to state marijuana is not only undeserving of the “bad” category you wish to place it, but is actually good. Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s very brave and informative mini documentary Weed alludes to this.

Observer, you’re part of history. Use this time to grow and learn, as a tool for personal introspection, and re-examination of all the morays and thought forms within your mind to arrive at new solutions. Society is changing. There’s no need to be part of an unpopular, and erroneous past. I’m assuming you’re not law enforcement, so if you haven’t jailed or harmed anyone for your views against marijuana, you have nothing to worry about…you can transition with the change and fit in the new paradigm towards acceptance and less condemnation of our fellow man, as well as our beloved and sacred botanicals that comprise our earth.

@philly……so if my examples are so ridiculous and stereotypical you have no idea of the many layers that are involved here. You have a very simplistic bordering on infantile way of thinking. If you say its ok to use heroin as long as you don’t commit a crime and stay in your house, do you have any idea of the drain on society that person becomes. Do you think for one second that person would be a useful member of society? Do you think that these drugs are not addictive? are you that insane?

The drug users in our society and I don’t care if its heroin, coke whatever become our burdon…much like yourself. The government has to support them, because they cannot hold a job or function, families are destroyed, suicide skyrockets, if they decide to clean up who is going to pay for it?..we do that’s who. So by your thinking we should sell addictive drugs right beside a twix bar at the local Caseys…and this would make the world a better place to live?…as long as you don’t commit a crime right?

How about if they have kids? Would a drug user be a good parent? Or would the kids also become a burdon of society. You know the answers to these questions you just can bring yourself to admit your wrong on this issue and try to go from saying heroin use is ok to likening it to buying rat poison at Menards. Do you ever read your posts before you post them?

The kids point is valid, only up to a point. Bad parenting occurs not because of substances, but because of BAD PARENTING. My own parents are horrible parents…and they are straight as an arrow. Try telling someone like actor Matthew McConaughey that he’s a bad parent sometime. I’m sure he tokes on marijuana, and he has 3 kids. There are scores of Rainbow Family people (hippies) with children that are beyond loving and supportive of their children. You are relying on stereotypical personas of white trash or black crack druggies…this is the image the DEA wants you to have. Need I remind you Phillip Seymour Hoffman the Academy Award winning actor just died from tainted Heroin overdose? I think I can defer you to Iowa Sucks on this one, as he knows more about notable functional people who use drugs and work and pay taxes. I do concur though that when in the presence of ignorant violent people: children and parents who are on drugs don’t mix. But the reality is children and those types of parents don’t mix anyway….so you just mitigate the damage a bit.

The reality is the “Genesis” of bad parenting is found in violence and ignorance. Many of the druggy bad parents of today, were descendants of the alcoholic bad parents of the past. How many of you had “Old mans” who used to beat you coming home drunk and ornery? How many seen their moms get beat that way? How many moms did the beating? It’s tragic stuff, and the story repeats itself far too often in America. But that has very little to do with the drugs and much to do with the circumstances and environmental conditions of the communities people live in. Ignorance begets ignorance…lack of education begets lack of education, and lack of opportunities. Exploitation by masters creates resentment and alcoholism amongst the population. It’s all tied in together. The drugs are only the convenient scapegoat. Some of the brightest men and women in the world have used drugs.

GM Phil and Iowa. I think the bozos made a mistake. Oh for fear of that “reefer madness” and its quite deadly affects on human society. Anyways Oelwein has been known as the capital of the United States in the production of meth. It will come out eventually. Take care,…have a nice day and keep your powder dry.

How do you grow drugs? I think they meant to write these people were growing plants…plants that have been around God’s Earth much longer than their puny worthless lives ever have or ever will be.

I wonder how God is going to feel when these cops reach judgment day and God finds out they were trying to eradicate and prosecute part of his creation?

What will god think of you when he realizes you cut your grass and sprayed for weeds or picked your weeds from your garden. Weed was put on earth to make strong hemp rope and hemp necklaces not for you to get high eat a bunch of food and play video games or laugh when a loud motorcycle comes down your road.

Excuse me, I don’t cut my grass, and I don’t spray for weeds. I tore up my entire lawn and planted a garden, and stuck a sign in it for all the town to read: FOOD NOT LAWNS. I would never spray a poison such as weed killer on the lawn. I don’t keep lawns. I’m an organic gardener soon to be organic farmer.

YOU TORE UP YOUR LAWN?????

It was his mother’s lawn and was probably all weeds.

The problem with Philly is he thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room….except his room has padded walls and the rest of us are watching him thru a one way glass mirror taking notes on the insanity…he puts on a great show.

“All the world’s indeed a stage, and we are merely players, performers and portrayers…each another’s audience, outside the gilded cage.”

Glad you’re enjoying the show. Don’t be surprised though, when the script you thought you were controlling, changes.

In other news 84 year old Mildred was growing some orchids and roses in her “growing operation”.

74 year old Willard was growing some tomato plants in a vegetable “growing operation”. He had a virtual factory of vegetables going.

Gotta love the cop lingo.

They weren’t simply growing some cannabis plants. They had a “growing operation”. Or better yet, they had a “cartel manufacturing site” going, or how about they had a “THC manufacturing facility” that was a cartel based.

Or, how about the truth. They were just growing some plants for crying out loud. Spare us the drama, please.

@ philly and iowa sucks. “clowns to the left of me jokers to the right. Here I am stuck in the middle with you”. And on it goes.
