NIT – The state of Iowa is 167 years old today. The state was founded in 1846 as the 29th state.
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad wished the state a happy birthday Saturday via social media, saying “Happy 167th Birthday to the great state of Iowa!”
What is your favorite thing about Iowa? The weather? The people?
Think about how young that really is. That’s not more than 2 average lifetimes. Someone could have been born when Iowa was first created in 1846, then lives to 84, then has a child in 1930 who is still alive today. It explains a lot concerning the overall naivety and simplistic community design of most Iowa towns.
