“We should pass immigration reform. It’s good for our economy. It’s good for our national security. It’s good for our people. And we should do it this year,” the President said from the East Room at the White House.
“Everybody knows that our current immigration system is broken. Across the political spectrum, people understand that. We’ve known it for years.”
The Senate passed an immigration reform bill in June that would give a path to citizenship to some of the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S. The House must now step forward and work towards a compromise with the Senate bill. The President put the onus on House Republicans to decide what to do next.
“This year the Senate has already passed an immigration reform bill by a wide, bipartisan majority,” the President explained. “Democratic leaders have introduced a bill in the House that is similar to the bipartisan Senate bill. So now it’s up to Republicans in the House to decide whether reform becomes a reality or not.
“If House Republicans have new and different, additional ideas for how we should move forward, then we want to hear them. I’ll be listening. I know that Democrats and Republicans in the Senate, those who voted for immigration reform already, are eager to hear those additional ideas. But what we can’t do is just sweep the problem under the rug one more time, leave it for somebody else to solve sometime in the future.”

Repubs will never get the black vote and they know it (I’m sure most tea-pubs don’t even want it). This leaves Latino’s and women as the demographic categories they should be trying to win votes from.
It would be prudent of conservatives to play nice on immigration, the survival of their party may well depend on it.

He could care less that they are illegal law breakers and is simply looking for more voters for the sell out spent o crats.
Fat chance of this happening. He has enough problems with Obumercare being such a failure. He still has the debt limit and the budget to resolve too. He will never win the fight on immigration the way the want to do it.
