WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) on Thursday announced that the Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission will receive $54,900 to update its comprehensive economic development strategy in West Burlington. The funds were made available through the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) Economic Development Administration. Harkin is a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee that funds the DOC.
“I congratulate Des Moines County on receiving this grant,” said Harkin. “Economic development in Iowa relies on strong, long-term development strategies, and this grant will allow West Burlington to continue investing in sound, stable projects that create jobs and career opportunities.”
The EDA seeks to diversify and strengthen the regional economy by supporting the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy.
