Clear Lake man accused of strangulation violates no-contact order twice

MASON CITY – A Clear Lake man awaiting trial for allegedly strangling a Clear Lake woman has been arrested for violating the no-contact order placed by a judge in the case.

Clear Lake police were asked by Mason City police to help locate Chad Ryan Tannahill, 44, after he allegedly violated the no-contact order while in Mason City on May 22nd. The CLPD located Tannahill at a local hotel and made the arrest.

Tannahill is now being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $20,000 cash-only bond.

Tannahill is facing charges of felony B kidnapping, felony D criminal mischief, domestic abuse involving strangulation, and now two charges of contempt of court for allegedly violating the no-contact order twice this month. He will face a hearing on May 30th.

Allegedly, Tannahill commited the crimes on March 13th, 2013, when he was armed with a knife and crescent wrench while confining a victim and assaulting her. He also allegedly took an ice chipper to a vehicle owned by someone else and caused more than $1,000 damage to it.

He is getting worse. Where does it stop with him? Too bad for his daughter and son. Good kids.

Basically this guy is a potent combination of Bi-polar, meth addicted, with a side of paranoia. Its not a question of if, it is a question of when this guy kills someone. So now its up to the court system. Do you put him away in prison and let me fester, do you get him alot of help to control the bi-polar and addiction issues, or more likely a slap on the wrist for his most recent crimes, and then later down the road a family can suffer a tragedy and they will be able to say to the courts…I told you so.

Who is he and why does he go free?….Jim

I’ve often wondered the same thing myself. How many times does it take for this kind of thing to happen before some clod like this guy finally does kill someone? On another post, someone has complained about a public defender being ineffective. Maybe this guy had a public defender who got him out of jail….?

Why on earth would a judge have let this P.O.S. out of jail with all of those charges on him? Are they waiting for him to kill someone?
