Illegal alien sentenced to prison after 2 drunk driving offenses

SIOUX CITY – A man who illegally re-entered the United States from Mexico was sentenced on March 8, 2013, to three months in federal prison.

Juan Rodriguez-Aragon, age 34, from Mexico, received the prison term after a January 9, 2013, guilty plea to one count of illegal re-entry.

At the guilty plea, Rodriguez-Aragon admitted he was last deported from the United States on June 27,
2007. Rodriguez-Aragon came to the attention of Homeland Security Investigations’ (HSI) on December 4, 2012, while he was incarcerated in the Wright County, Iowa, jail for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated 2nd offense.

Rodriguez-Aragon was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett. Ramirez-Hernandez was sentenced to 3 months’ imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system.

Rodriguez-Aragon is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
