Two more Marines charged in urination case

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C., Feb. 8 (UPI) — A U.S. Marine captain and a sergeant were charged in the matter of a video showing Marines urinating on dead Afghan militants, officials said.

Capt. James V. Clement and Sgt. Robert W. Richards were charged in late January with violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice for misconduct during operations in Helmand province, the Marine Corps Times reported.

Clement, who was executive officer of Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines of Camp Lejeune, N.C., was charged with dereliction of duty and lying to a naval investigator, among other charges.

Richards, a team leader in Kilo Company, was charged with dereliction of duty, violation of a lawful general order and conduct prejudicial to the good order and discipline of the armed forces.

An Article 32 hearing will be scheduled and overseen by Lt. Gen. Richard Mills, the Marine Corps Times said.

The Corps began its investigation into the incident after a video posted on YouTube in January 2012 showed several laughing Marines appearing to urinate on militants’ corpses in July 2011.

These marines should get a medal for what they did.. We need more just like them.

Urinating on a corpse and FILMING it. That is a special kind of stupidity that is only surpassed by those who applaud it.

NO we do not need more like them. We need to make it clear to everyone that this is not the way we do things in the United States. You are a sicko msgordy.

@bodacious-Completely agree with you here. This served no purpose other than to make those people hate us even more. (Like they needed a reason). We need to be better than this.

So, who really got hurt here. There are worse things that can happen during combat/war, let them go. For those that will fight for it, freedom has a flavor, the protected will never know…

Claiming the moral high ground means you just can’t do things like this.

There’s nothing moral about war, have you ever been there…

Who got hurt? The image of every US troop trying to bring peace to the region that’s who.
