President Obama headed to Newtown, CT for prayer vigil

President Barack Obama

The White House said Saturday that President Obama would be headed to Newtown, CT on Sunday to attend a prayer vigil for the victims of the mass shooting there on Friday.

Twenty-six people, 20 of them children, died in one of the worst mass killings in U.S. history.  Most of the victims were shot multiple times.

The president will meet with the families of those who were lost and thank first responders. The President will also speak at an interfaith vigil for families of the victims as well as families from Sandy Hook Elementary School scheduled for 7PM EST.

The president cancelled a trip to Maine that was scheduled, where he was set to promote the fiscal cliff talks.
