WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Obama held a news conference Wednesday to answer questions about his plans for the next four years. He made one thing clear: his job is to help American families and small businesses get ahead in the wake of the recession.
“I’ve got a mandate to help middle-class families and families that are working hard to try to get into the middle class. That’s my mandate. That’s what the American people said. They said: Work really hard to help us. Don’t worry about the politics of it; don’t worry about the party interests; don’t worry about the special interests. Just work really hard to see if you can help us get ahead — because we’re working really hard out here and we’re still struggling, a lot of us.”
The most immediate issue facing President Obama and lawmakers here in Washington is a year-end deadline that will require some big decisions on jobs, taxes and deficits — and have a real effect on families all over the country.

Obama got re-elected because he was the better of the 2 candidates and the democratic party has a platform that welcomes all people to it. It is that plain and simple. The republicans have wandered so far right that most can’t relate to them any more. This has been going on for some time now. The republicans have only won the popular vote in 1 of the last 6 presidential elections. ” The Democraps say the rich are evil” is your quote not a democratic position. We just think they should pay their fair share. There is some welfare fraud that goes on, but the vast majority of people receiving some form of assistance from the gov. need it. We are just coming out of a recesion so naturally more people have needed help.
We are not coming out of a recession. We are going deeper into one. Just watch. Soon there will be no full-time jobs under $20/hour because businesses offering those jobs can’t afford to pay the huge health premiums that are ahead and they can’t afford to pay the fines. Businesses are cutting hours back to 29/week for everyone so everyone will need 2 jobs. These people will not be able to afford their own health care. There won’t be enough jobs for people to have two so even more people will go on the dole and government debt will go sky high. It’s going to be a fiscal disaster bigger than Sandy.
