MASON CITY – The Mason City Police Department is warning the public and area businesses of counterfeit mney circulating throughout the area. Police are investigating recent reports from area businesses that they have received counterfeit money in the last 24 hours.
Police remind area businesses and retailers that when accepting cash, they shold thoroughly check all bills for authenticity.
If a bill is discovered that is suspicious, please contact the MCPD at 641-421-3636.

Isn’t it funny how this problem seems to escalate when the carnival is in clear lake? Just saying.
You have a point there, but, it might not be the carnival people that are passing it, it might be the carnival goers that are passing it to the carnival people. I would doubt that the carnival people have the equipment to check the money, if they even care..
Clear Lake is a good place to spend it. The vast majority of people living there are rude and as phoney as a $6 nickel.
