MASON CITY – How many years has Stebens Children’s Theatre hosted Spring Fling?

Find out on April 27 during the always-fun trivia contest at the Fling, where you can also enjoy wine- and beer-tasting, appetizers, and live and silent auctions.

The fun will begin at 6 p.m. at the Muse Norris Conference Center at North Iowa Area Community College.

The Spring Fling is the major spring fundraiser for Stebens.  Auction items will include signed photographs of Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand from the movie Meet the Fockers, and an autographed set of scrubs worn by Noah Wyle on the Emmy Award-winning medical drama ER.

There will also be gift certificates to area restaurants, special theme parties, gift baskets put together by each class of students taking acting lessons at Stebens, and many other items donated by local businesses.

“It promises to be another fun, entertaining evening, with great auction deals and great people,” said Stebens Children’s Theatre Executive Director Tom Ballmer.

The trivia contest will begin at 7 p.m. Beverages and appetizers are complimentary for those attending the event.

Tickets for the Spring Fling are now available and teams are being accepted for the trivia contest. Tickets cost $12.50 in advance or $15 at the door. Tickets for an entire trivia team of 10 can be purchased for $100.

Proceeds from the fundraiser go toward production expenses, royalty fees, workshop expenses and for student scholarships. About one fourth of the students enrolled in classes at Stebens receive scholarships based on financial need.

Stebens Children’s Theatre, established in 1984, is a nonprofit organization that teaches children all aspects of theater and puts on eight productions a year, providing entertainment to about 14,000 people.
