Call for Entries from MacNider Museum for Yard Art Competition

MASON CITY – The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum would like to invite everyone to submit entries into the Trashtastic Yard Art Competition. This is an art contest highlighting the 2012 MacNider Arts Festival theme, Trashtastic! The final exhibition will consist of outdoor artwork created with reused materials.

Any piece made by the artist (or group of artists) to be displayed outdoors for the summer of 2012 qualifies for entry. Each entry must be made up of at least 75% reused materials. Note: reused materials must be obtained legally. Artwork can range in size from small to very large. When creating pieces, please keep in mind that artwork will be on outdoor display for three summer months.

Digital images or standard photographs will be accepted for the judging process. Artists can submit up to two images of each piece. A total of three entries may be submitted by each artist (or group of artists) in the form small jpegs. If emailing entries, please send your completed paper entry form by mail to the Trashtastic Yard Art Competition – 303 Second St. SE – Mason City, IA 50401.

Panelists from within the community will select the artworks for display and awards. Three cash award winners will be selected. $150 will go to the First Prize winner, $100 will be given as a Second Prize, with $50 for Third Prize. A special emphasis will be placed on creativity. The postmark deadline for exhibition entries is Monday, April 30, at 5 p.m. The artworks selected for exhibition will be on outdoor display from the end of May through August, 2012.
