CARROLL COUNTY, IOWA – An Iowa woman perished in a head-on auto collision with a semi.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on December 15, 2022. At about 5:51 AM that morning, On Highway 71 just north of 150th Street in Carroll county, 26-year-old Lorraine Haley Wuebker of Auburn, Iowa, was traveling southbound on Highway 71 in a Chevy Equinox when the vehicle crossed the center line. It then collided head-on with an International semi driven by 64-year-old Edward Peterson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Both vehicles came to rest in opposite ditches along the roadway.
As a result of the collision, Lorraine Haley Wuebker was pronounced deceased at the scene. The state patrol says weather and road conditions may have contributed to the crash, which has remained under investigation.
