BRITT, Iowa ñ Aug. 10, 2011 ñ Microsurfacing work on Iowa 3 from the eastern city limits of Hampton east to the Butler County line will restrict traffic to one lane beginning Thursday, Aug. 11, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Britt construction office.
Motorists will be assisted through the work zone by flaggers and a pilot car. In addition, a 14-foot width lane restriction is in effect in the open lane. Traffic will be returned to normal patterns when workers are not present. This project is expected to be completed by Aug. 19.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.|
