FAYETTE COUNTY — Several people were arrested in separate incidents reported by a Northern Iowa sheriff’s office between May 8 and May 10.
On Friday, May 8, at approximately 2:37 p.m., a Fayette County deputy arrested Tonya Mary Pennington, 50, of Oelwein, and Travis Michael Heinz, 33, of Oelwein, on active arrest warrants.
According to the sheriff’s office, Pennington was wanted for second-degree theft out of Fayette County. Heinz was wanted on a warrant out of Greene County.
Both were transported to the Fayette County Jail. Heinz was later picked up and taken to Greene County on his warrant. Pennington was later released on bond.
In a separate case, deputies responded at approximately 12:10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, to a disturbance in the 400 block of Mechanic Street in Fayette.
When deputies arrived, they found Stefan Miller, 33, of Oelwein, showing signs of impairment. Deputies were also advised of an assault, according to the sheriff’s office.
After an initial investigation, Miller was arrested and charged with public intoxication, assault and disorderly conduct. He was held at the Fayette County Jail pending an appearance before a judge.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains open and additional charges are pending. Fayette Ambulance assisted at the scene.
In another incident, deputies took a report of a suspicious person near State Street in Eldorado at approximately 1:45 a.m. Friday, May 9.
Deputies responded to the area and made contact with the subject. After an investigation, William Joseph Butteris, 41, of Iowa Falls, was arrested and charged with first-offense possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
Butteris was taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail, where he was held until an initial appearance.
All suspects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in court
