MASON CITY – Area residents looking to dive into one of the nation’s fastest-growing outdoor hobbies will have the opportunity to learn from an expert next month during a special event at the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum.
The museum will host a “Birding 101” talk on Thursday, June 4, at 6 p.m. in the Salsbury Room. The presentation features Heather Hucka from the Lime Creek Nature Center, who will share tips and tricks for beginning bird watchers. The event is being held in conjunction with the “Ray Colby: Nature Photographer” exhibition, which is currently on display in the museum’s Kinney-Lindstrom Gallery.
The session is designed to show how accessible and healthy bird watching can be for everyone, regardless of experience level. Organizers describe the hobby as an economical way to engage with nature and discover the local avian population. Attendees will learn the basics of getting started and receive professional advice on how to identify various species.
The talk is free and open to the public, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum is located at 303 Second Street SE in Mason City.
