DES MOINES – A bill was introduced in the Iowa Legislature this session that would require background checks on ice cream truck drivers in an effort to protect children.

Introduced January 23rd, House File 55 provides that “a business that operates a motor vehicle primarily marketing the sale and dispensing of ice cream or other food products from or near the motor vehicle to children may require an employee, vendor, contractor, or agent of the business to undergo a criminal history and abuse registry record check by the business.”

Information relating to Iowa criminal history, the sex offender registry, the child abuse registry, and the dependent adult abuse registry” would be obtained.

At this time, the bill is in subcommittee and several lobbying organizations have indicated support for the bill.

There should be mandatory drug and alcohol test for all the politicians. Lets start with Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi.

Wow, this is something new. Maybe I’ve been in the woods to long, as I don’t remember hearing about any children being assualted by ice cream truck drivers. I’m all for protecting our children, but this is really off the wall. One would think that the Iowa Legislature would have more important things to do.

You know who introduced this asinine bill, don’t you? Dawn Pettengill, the person responsible for no smoking in bars. Outside of that fiscally irresponsible piece of garbage, she’s done SQUAT. Abortion, guns and other teabaggery crap.

Isn’t this a shame. Pretty soon the thought police will not let anyone do anything at all.

That will be the end of ice cream trucks, lol, as I don’t think people are standing in line waiting to drive them . . .

Are ice cream truck drivers being discriminated against?

You pick good articles to get a good laugh.
