Floyd County Board of Supervisors approves audit bid and reduces bridge weight limits

CHARLES CITY – The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met on April 21, 2026, with Supervisors Gloria Carr, Boyd Campbell, and Frank Rottinghaus in attendance. The board approved a variety of administrative items, including the April 14 minutes and a series of county and engineer claims. Notable claims included $12,441.03 for Charles City services and $5,355.57 for Iowa DOT parts.

CHARLES CITY – The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met on April 28, 2026, to address several infrastructure and administrative matters. During the session, the board approved a bid from Gardiner & Company for auditing services covering the next three fiscal years, with costs set at $47,650 for FY26, $51,460 for FY27, and $55,575 for FY28. The board also recognized Veterans Affairs Director Todd Schriever for his dedicated service to local veterans and their families.

During the session, the board approved a bid from Gardiner & Company for auditing services covering the next three fiscal years, with costs set at $47,650 for FY26, $51,460 for FY27, and $55,575 for FY28. The board also recognized Veterans Affairs Director Todd Schriever for his dedicated service to local veterans and their families.

Infrastructure updates included a report on Bridge No. 153660, where structural deterioration has led to a reduction in posted weight limits to 10, 15, and 15 tons on the one-lane structure. Regarding Drainage District #9, Zimmerman’s Digging and Demolition was identified to take over repair work after the previous contractor declined the project. Additionally, a public hearing was set for May 19 at 9:15 a.m. to discuss the potential vacation of Timber Avenue south of 130th Street.

The board also authorized an agreement with ReGov Solutions, LLC to participate in a software program for Iowa counties. Personnel updates included the hiring of conservation aides Carter Burkhardt and Clay Price, and pay increases for jailer Alyssa Collins and auditor’s clerk Ann Wagner. Discussions regarding the hiring of a full-time dispatcher to prepare for upcoming retirements were also held, with staff indicating that sufficient budget funds are available for the position.
