NIACC for first time offers students chance to sign up late for classes

MASON CITY – For the first time, North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) is giving students an opportunity to sign up half-way through the first semester and still get a great start on a college education. An eight-week session of courses has been created to help students who, for whatever reason, did not enroll in time for fall semester.

“We know there are students from our area who may have started at larger schools, but found that they were completely overwhelmed in those environments. This will give them the opportunity to make a fresh start at NIACC,” said Lyn Brodersen, Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at NIACC. “We want them to know they can come back to North Iowa and enroll right away at NIACC, without having to wait until January when the spring semester begins.”

The late sign up is also perfect for adult students who wish to begin or to return to college. “We realize people have a variety of reasons for not making that fall session deadline. We want to help those students register and to make their entry into college as easy and pleasant as possible,” Brodersen said.

Students can sign up on a part-time or full-time basis. Students who wish to be eligible for financial aid are required to be full-time students, which means registering for 12 credit hours. NIACC also has many scholarship opportunities available.

Classes for the eight-week session are held Monday-Thursday and begin October 24. For more information or to enroll, call the NIACC Admissions office: 641-422-4245 or Toll Free: 1-888– GO NIACC extension 4245.
