Two Clear Lake men face immigration charges following assault

MASON CITY – According to a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s media report, shortly before 1:30pm on Tuesday law enforcement arrested two Clear Lake men on warrants at their apartment listed as 207 24th Street South in Clear Lake.

The two men arrested are identified as 30-year-old Darinel Champo-Ruiz and 38-year-old Daniel Oliva.

Both men are being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail have been charged with one count each of simple assault.  In addition, Immigration and Customs Enforcement holds have been placed on them with no bond.

The assault charges were filed on July 23rd.

Court records show Daniel Oliva has been in Cerro Gordo County since at least January 6th, 2012 when he was arrested by the Iowa State Patrol for 1st offense OWI, no insurance, and no Driver license. He pled guilty to the OWI on March 23rd, 2012 in Cerro Gordo County District Court and served a two day jail sentence at the Cerro Gordo County Jail in the case starting April 1st.
