Opinion: Setting the record straight on casino and naming Mason City room after Alex Kuhn

Already it’s Sunday once more; Sundays seem to be stacking up faster than empty beer bottles around Mayor Eric Bookmeyer. High on my list of weekly enjoyment is John Skipper’s column which I feel is the best part of a newspaper that has witnessed better days.

John is deep… he is at times a “code writer” in today’s column about a casino going north.  Today what he wrote was just pulp for the hoi polloi; really, just a select few can decipher code, I being proficient among them knew the real story.

I would wholeheartedly agree the people of Worth County are tough, but you can brush away most of the hyperbole John fed you today. The real and only reason the casino landed in Worth County was Terry Branstad. Worth Country is Branstad County; now listen up… just who in the hell do you think appointed those sitting around the “Gaming Commision” table? If you said Terry Branstad you win a bucket of pig shit.

Let me bring it closer to home so those who perpetrated much the same thing will know they didn’t fool those who read code. There is a motion on the table before the city council to rename the Mason City Room in honor of the late council person Alex Khun. Bookmeyer hates everything Kuhn, he credits Alex for instigating the defeat of Prestage Foods and if you believe that as do I then it’s reason enough to rename it immediately, because in sacrificing himself to the abuse that followed he paid the ultimate price. Did you all know Eric was banned from Alex’s funeral?  Being class-less, arrogant and demented, he went anyway.

How many CAFO’s do you think we’d be dealing with here if Alex stayed quiet? Look 20 miles North. Just as Terry appointed the Gaming Commission, Eric appointed the Library Board. The $500,000.00 naming fee imposed to rename the room is the work of one person….Eric Bookmeyer. The Library Board should be ashamed of themselves. There should be pickets out front of the Library every time the board meets.

As to why Northwood got the Casino… it was a get out of jail free pass issued by Terry; he told the Board he appointed how to vote… all the rest is pure pig shit. Don’t blame John Skipper for trying to pull the pig shit over your eyes, he was counting on me to to bring out the real truth…..

Peter Children, please continue expressing your opinions. I
thoroughly enjoy reading your articles. Pay no mind to the local lemmings! I find your articles well written, articulate (rare these days) and amusing.

Matt, I’m from the Ward 4 and would definitely vote for you! Please consider running again. Does anyone know what Eric has planned after he wraps up being Mayor? Besides drinking and hitting on all the wait staff at Applebee’s? Lol

So much for Peter’s literary skills, or lack there of.
“John Skipper can play the keyboard as if he were a concert violinist.” – Peter Children , April 17, 2017 at 12:55 PM
That would make him a pianist then and not a violinist… eh, Mr Globe Gazette Gold Pen?
Peter is more like Biff Tannen from Back to the Future: “So, why don’t you make like a tree and get outta here?”
        Bwaahaaa. 🙂
As to Matt’s success, you mean like in the $30,000 he begged for & received from the Mason City taxpayers after he spent years criticizing and belittling others for doing the same thing?
        Yes, successful hypocrisy.

John is a decent man, he’s just wired differently. Don’t ever forget he has an employer whose agenda he must follow. I think he’s burned some bridges here but he’s a big boy and he must have weigh the consequences.

Friendships come with responsibilities; man does not live by bread alone…..but the best friendships flourish on two way streets and the best nutrient for it is mutual respect….. John Skipper lives in his own world and it appears it’s a choice he himself chose. He could be a quart low on ethics as I know of more than one who he blindsided; not good!

Sorry to disappoint you, “penis” child but “us” rural folks are much more sophisticated than you know. We would suggest that you venture out of your “bubble” and expose yourself to the real world in the rural country. Most of those complaining about hog facilities are prejudice in their viewpoint and refuse to take the blinders off and catch up with the current facts of the issue. When they find out what the truth facts are they will undoubtedly be embarrassed and crawl back into the bubble with the likes of you.

like anonymous said, you show your ignorance with every word you write dicki child. Things are changing and you are far behind the times in your knowledge of pork production. Furthermore, we have stopped letting persons from the city hunt on our property because of the lack of respect they have for the true family farmer. go stand in the corner and play with yourself.

As to Eric Bookmeyer; in my eariiler years I was in the bar business, I met thousands of drunks no different I might say from him. The only interest I might express toward him is his diabolical nature when it comes to this city. He would have destroyed this simple village along with everyone in it by inviting the pig people here.

Congratualtions Mr. Children on your pivoting & pitiful endeavor to avoid the truth of what I stated.

Whatever credibility that Peter Children may have had, went out the window when he suggested that Eric Bookmeyer should be killed by his physician wife by injecting him with air.
That comment is indicative of what Peter Children has become.
Just a narcissistic bitter old man whose self-importance is symptomatic of a deranged and dangerous psychotic personality.

While I am far from a Bookmeyer supporter, Peter Children has a crazed psychopathic fixation with him.
Peter Children is sorely in need of mental health care.

I think Mr. Children meant it in jest. It’s apologists like yourself that enabled Eric to get away with dubious acts as reported in NIT and the Des Moines Register. He even chased his former crony Tornquist out of town – does it get any lower? (Wait, yes, it did.) I think you ought to be ashamed of yourself for sticking up for Bookmeyer. He came to this town to do people harm, and he accomplished that and nothing else.

I see that your reading for comprehension skills are on par with your dubious journalistic endeavors.
Nowhere did I state that I supported Bookmeyer, in fact I stated “While I am far from a Bookmeyer supporter..”
Mean while, you were an apologist for Children’s disturbed & unbalanced comment about killing off Bookmeyer.
You have reached a new low, even for you Marquardt, supporting an unhinged person like Peter Children. No wonder that you lost that election to the clueless & ignorant Janet Solberg. How embarrassing it is that the people of the 4th ward preferred the pathetic likes of Janet Solberg over you. Seriously, losing to Solberg is a mandate of what your reputation really is & what low esteem you are held in.

Such anger from you. Sorry for your sad state of affairs (not really). Clearly, you are an apologist for Eric with no sense of humor and much seething animosity for your own losses and embarrassments. Most people had a big hearty laugh over Mr. Children’s suggestion for Eric’s wife’s activities. People angry that Eric’s agenda failed so massively still carry around this burden of despair, as you demonstrate this morning, digging for insults from a dumb election 4 years ago that no one cares about in the slightest. We know who the handful of you are; I really pity you in some odd way, and look forward to crossing paths with you down the road for good times.

Bookmeyer methodlicaly loaded every commission and board in this city. He did it to the HR commission, the Park Board, the Airport Commission the Library Board and probably more we don’t know about, he is one sick puppy.
He took Weaver off the Landfill board and put Turnquist in that seat. That lasted all of about 5 minutes. In two terms as Mayor Bookmeyer has failed to bring a discernible industry to this city.

When NIT releases the comprehensive look back on the Bookmeyer years and the damage he did to MC, we’ll most-definitely include a chapter on the stocking of boards and commissions.

Photos, videos, stories – a vast catalogue available to the world via Google. Go ahead and give it a try and come back in 2 weeks when you are done consuming all that data.

And boy do we have pig shit and not so honest Worth county supervisors and DNR approving CAFO s in GARST top soil – even sink holes directly into the jordan aquafier which people in surrounding counties get their drinking water from – so these pig shit farms coming into Worth county can also poison your water in Mason City – thought you dodged a bullet ?- Not if Black Bartz and gang stay in office with many cash benefits. Other gang in Michell county being bambozled down the road by their county supervisors – Wake up – gas piple line is for CAFO s – connect the dots on pipeline and New Cafos. Am I wrong to bring this up? Yep the Russians made me do it.
