CLEAR LAKE – a Mason City man was hurt Friday morning when he lost control of his Jetta and rolled it twice into a ditch just outside Clear Lake.

Cerro Gordo county deputies responded to a reported single vehicle rollover near the intersection of 285th Street and Eagle Avenue, just north of Clear Lake. A blue 2003 Volkswagon Jetta GLS dropped off onto the shoulder, over-corrected and subsequently lost control and entered the east ditch. Upon entering the east ditch, the vehicle rolled twice and came to a rest on its wheels.

The driver, Cameron Kitzman age 22 of Mason City, received minor injuries and was transported to Mercy One in Mason City for observations. The driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and airbags were deployed as a result of the crash. Kitzman was alone in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and Clear Lake Ambulance Service.
