LaDonna Loane Craig, daughter of Ralph and Genevieve (Thomas) Maddux, was born on December 27, 1940 in Estherville, Iowa. She passed away on May 30, 2025 at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa at the age of 84.
LaDonna attended Estherville Schools and graduated high school in 1957. Following graduation she worked at Pepsi Bottling in Estherville. She was united in marriage to Loren Gene Craig on May 19, 1961 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple made their home in the rural Armstrong area. LaDonna was an extremely hard-working woman, she passed her hard work ethic on to her children, and they greatly appreciate that. She worked for 30 years at Stokely Van Camp canning in Fairmont until the closing of the plant. Loren passed away on October 1, 1992. Following Loren’s death, LaDonna went to work at Armstrong Rim and Wheel and continued working well past retirement age.
LaDonna was raised in the Methodist faith and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Armstrong for many years. Later in life, she joined the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong, where she enjoyed being a part of the quilting group. LaDonna preferred spending time outside, especially camping and boating with her family. She rejoiced in being an active participant in her children and grandchildren’s lives.
LaDonna is survived by her children Brian Craig of Armstrong, Lorna (Richard) Paulson of Fairmont, MN, Lori Craig of Albert Lea, MN; nine grandchildren Brooke (Bryon) Nelsen, Olivia (Kyle) Wester, Craig Hotovec, Christopher (Jessica) Hotovec, Courtney Hotovec, Dawn (Zion) Hanson, Steven (Angie) Landers, Krystal Landers, and Daniel (Cayla) Landers, and 21 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Ronald E. Maddux of Bremerton, WA, Sharon (Norm) Drury of Woodland Park, CO, and Carole (Joe) LaLama of Alliquippa, PA.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Genevieve Maddux, husband Loren Craig, daughter-in-law Kristy Craig, sister Letha Dunning, and sister-in-law Carol Maddux.
